Electric cars 2012: stiff competition in a new market

Electric cars have been slow movers on the market, but they're slowly but surely coming into their own. This is in part due to increased concerns in terms of environmental issues, as well as the costs of purchasing gas. More car users are looking towards electric cars as a way of saving money while opting for a more environmentally friendly environment. Environmentally friendly cars are an especially good option for those who have quite heavy car use, such as in the west. If news reports are anything to go by, the year of the electric car will be 2012.

Many automobile manufacturers are looking at launching electric cars in 2012. These cars range from general runabout cars to sportier models, and vary significantly in terms of design and cost. However, they all share similarities in terms of how they run, and the energy source that they draw on in order to recharge and be on their way.

Users might be aware of electric cars such as the Toyota Prius hybrid that has been on the road for several years. However, they might be interested to know that other car manufacturers looking at unveiling electric cars include Audi, Nissan, and even American motoring giant Ford.

Ford's electric cars 2012 range includes not one but four cars to be launched in what is a significant move for the company. It is envisaged that these vehicles will be able to travel a distance of 100 miles on one battery charge, which is quite a significant achievement in terms of the advancement of electric cars. The proposed electric cars 2012 range includes an electric commercial van, an electric small car developed in conjunction with Magna International, and two hybrid vehicles, one of which will be a version that can be plugged in to recharged. The cars are only the start of Ford's line, which will be expanded in the future as technology develops and the market demands it.

Other 2012 electric cars include the Nissan Mixim, which was first unveiled in 2007. The car is being developed by Nissan Australia, and will be one of the first mass-produced electric vehicles available. Its benefits include zero emissions. The Nissan EV, another electric plug in car, is currently being piloted in the US and in Japan, and will be formally launched in 2012, increasing Nissan's range of electric cars on the market in 2012.
